The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, announced that 127 students were honored for outstanding academic achievement at the Honors Convocation held on the Saint Rose campus.
This year's Cowles Honor Scholar recipients were recongized at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 30, in Gibson Theatre. The honor is presented to seniors who have earned a grade point average of 3.6 or above and, thus far, have sustained this academic achievement throughout their Elmira College career. This honor is named for the College's first president, Augustus Cowles.
Artwork by 73 students is featured in SUNY Oneonta's 2017 Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. On display through May 13 at the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in the college's Fine Arts Center, the exhibition features more than 100 works by student artists. Featured artworks were chosen from an open jury process and works entered by the art faculty. Painting, drawing, sculpture, digital print, digital video and an assortment of mixed media make up this year's offerings.
A total of 193 students received the SUNY Oneonta 2016-2017 Susan Sutton Smith Award for academic excellence. To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Student award winners receive a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception. Dr. Florian Reyda, professor of biology, will deliver this year's Susan Smith Lecture titled, "Parasites, Evolution and Us," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Otsego Grille of the Morris Conference Center on campus.
104 Ithaca College students have been inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the only national honor society which recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all disciplines of higher education.
